而 "Diamonds and Rust" 則是Joan Baez少數自己創作的歌曲之一

這首歌背後的故事, 是她與Bob Dylan之間有如鑽石與鐵鏽般的戀情,

他們兩人同生於1941年, 在60年代以音樂投身反戰運動,

互相欣賞對方的才華而相知相惜, 然而兩人在1965年即告分手,

1975年Joan寫了 "Diamonds and Rust",

歌詞中有句話是 "Ten years ago I bought you some cufflinks",

(十年前, 我買了袖扣送你...)

之後, 每次聽Joan Baes 在演唱會重唱這首歌的時候,

Ten years ago 逐漸變成 Twenty years ago, Thirty years ago...

才知道原來這首歌的時光也會改變呢!

重新想要好好"品嚐"這首歌, 是因為最近看的一本小說,

17歲的女主角最愛的歌手也是Joan Baez...而約定的歌就是"Diamonds & Rust",

"佛說: 前世五百次的回眸才換來今世的擦肩而過"

那麼我們今世的相遇, 必定是前世"脖子都快扭到了" 才換來的吧?!  ^^

Joan Baez 自己對 "Diamond and Rust" 下了這樣的註解:

"Time turns ugly charcoal into diamonds and shiny metal into rust."

(時間會把醜陋的煤礦變成鑽石, 也會讓閃亮的鋼鐵蒙銹.)
